Buying unique handmade jewellery during Lockdown
Still need a special gift during the lockdown, then look no further!
I’m reaching out to my customers during these strange times. My little Independent shop on the high street in Cowes has been closed for over a month now, but I am still busy in my jewellery workshop and I continue to make and deliver my handmade jewellery locally, nationally and internationally.
I have been heartened by the way that my customers have kept in touch and continued to order special gifts for themselves, friends and family. As an independent designer-maker the current situation and effects of coronavirus is a real worry. With continued support I will strive to create beautiful items of jewellery that will be cherished and enjoyed for years to come, long after we have beaten this dreadful disease. Something handmade is a statement of solidarity showing a respect for the maker and the mindful wearer. I have found that personalised jewellery has been particularly popular at this time, maybe because we want to feel connected, expressing our love for friends and family more than ever now, despite the distancing.
I have missed the face to face contact with my customers in the shop, chatting to locals and meeting new customers but I have really valued staying connected via Facebook, Instagram and the new Skylarking website. During the lockdown customers have been able to order on the website or have contacted me direct for unique bespoke items. I have also continued to repair jewellery and re-model jewellery.
With most shops closed and the need to continue to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other special events I want my customers to be confident that they can still find an affordable, handmade gift that has been made using quality materials and traditional techniques. All packaging is recycled and items can be sent with a hand written personal note.
Thank you to everyone and stay safe!
